Hi everyone! I recently bought some large concrete trough planters from Idealist Planters for my patio makeover, and they look amazing—super modern and sturdy! The grey finish fits my industrial vibe perfectly. Only issue is one arrived with a small chip on the edge. It’s not a big deal, but has anyone else had this? Did you contact their customer service, and how was it? Also, any plant suggestions for these 100cm troughs? Thinking grasses or maybe some evergreen shrubs. Thanks!

Love my Idealist planters too! I’ve got the 65cm trough, and it’s perfect for my patio. No chips here, but I noticed the packaging is really thorough, so maybe yours was just bad luck? Customer service was great when I had a delivery question—Vitalia from their team was super helpful. For your troughs, maybe try dwarf conifers or heathers for low-maintenance evergreens.
Hi! I had a similar experience with a chipped edge on one of my large troughs from Idealist planters—their customer service was actually very responsive and offered me a partial refund or exchange right away. For 100cm troughs, ornamental grasses like Miscanthus or Carex work beautifully and give great texture. You could also try dwarf evergreen shrubs like Buxus or Hebe for year-round structure. I’ve even mixed herbs with evergreens for a lush, useful combo. Glad you’re enjoying the industrial look—they really elevate a patio!
